With the arrival of May, it’s hard to believe that we’re already a quarter of the way through 2017 already! 5 Art Gallery Fabrics unicorn toy
This fantastic beast has had many readers out to find him, and who can blame them? Sewn from simple shapes, he is easy to make, yet the end results look stunning, with his flowing mane, felt and ric rac hooves, plus his all-important horn. Find the pattern to create your own magical friend here.

Although it was originally created as a Mother's Day project, this pretty appliqué cushion would make a lovely gift for a feline fan at any time of the year! The bold pattern and unique shape of this stylish holdall has already been a hit with many stitchers – not only does it look great, it also has plenty of room for all your necessities. 2 Dave dachshund
He's been a firm favourite among Sew's readers for some time – after all, who can resist a cute sausage dog? What's more, he only requires a fat quarter of print fabric to make, with a small amount of a plain version for his inner ears and is really easy to whip up. This makes him the perfect project for beginners or more experienced stitchers wanting something to make quickly – find out how to sew him here.
1 Flossie flamingo
Flamboyant and colourful, this lovely lady is the star of Sew's website projects, stitched from a variety of vibrant pink prints.
