The air date for series 5 of The Great British Sewing Bee has been announced, and here at Sew HQ we’re feeling all nostalgic as we reminisce about the last four years of the show. We’ve rounded up the best reasons why we LOVE the programme and why it should stay on our screens!

Inspiring a new generation of sewers
Each week our living rooms are full of inspiration thanks to the great techniques and ideas the hopeful contestants bring to the sewing table. As each week passes and the skills step up a notch, it gives the new generation of sewers a chance to see how a love of stitching can change their lives!

The haberdashery of dreams
Even though we’re green with envy at all the stitchy goodies that line the shelves of the haberdashery, we simply can’t wait to see what’s on offer this time round. Here’s hoping there’s an abundance of beautiful fabrics, pretty trims and fun notions to make great garments for all. But hey, whatever there is, we doubt we’ll be disappointed!

You didn’t think we’d forgotten the much-loved tailor, did you? Of course not! Apart from his excellent eye for detail, exquisite style, charm and charisma, it just so happens he’s not bad to look at either! What would our evenings be without a weekly fix of Mr Grant?
