Sheer Panel Skirt
Garments Girl’s clothing Quick makes Skirts
Add a flirty feel to a summer skirt with a celeb-style cheeky sheer panel. Customise a thrift shop buy for true vintage style or check out the high-street which is a wash with sheer panels, like this pretty floral dress from Dorothy Perkins.
Essentials
- Skirt
- Sheer ribbon
- Matching thread
Add a touch of fun with sheer ribbon
Draw a line, then cut a strip from the base of your skirt. Most hems are curved, so measure up from the base to the desired position, then mark following the curve on the hem. Neaten the edges by overlocking or zig zag stitching.
Position organza ribbon on the right side of the skirt. Pin to the neatened cut edge, then stitch, joining the two ends together on a side seam. Repeat rejoining the strip cut from the base to the other side of the ribbon.
Finally to neaten your skirt, fold and pin the neatened edges of the skirt and the strip. Secure in place by edge stitching on the top and bottom of the ribbon insert on the right side of the garment.
