Child Safety

Choking Hazard

Toys, decorations garments and accessories with small parts (such as buttons, beads or embellishments) are not suitable for children under 3 years old.

Strangulation Risk

Items with cords, ties, straps or scarves may present a risk of strangulation.

Supervision

Never allow children under 3 years to handle or wear handmade toys, garments or accessories unsupervised. Always store handmade items safely out of reach.

Making Safely

  • Always ensure all pieces and parts are sewn on securely.
  • Use only safety toy stuffing.
  • Omit buttons, beads or embellishments on toys intended for children — embroider details instead.

Tool Safety

  • Knitting needles, crochet hooks, sewing needles, pins and scissors are sharp.
  • Adhesives and other haberdashery items should be used with care.
  • Adult supervision is required when children are present around these tools.

Materials & Care

  • Handmade items may not meet durability standards of shop-bought products. Check regularly for wear, loose parts or fraying yarn.
  • Yarn, stuffing and fabrics may be flammable — keep items away from open flames and heaters.
  • Some fibres may cause allergies — check materials before use.
  • Wash items carefully. We recommend handwashing in cool water unless yarn or fabric is labelled otherwise.

Sharing & Gifting

If you give away or sell a handmade item made from one of our patterns, please ensure that the recipient is made aware of the above safety guidance.

Remember: Safety comes first.

Please use your judgement when making, gifting or selling items created from our patterns.
