Accessories
Sealed with a kiss, this easy peasy project from Sophia Palmer is the perfect way to deliver a heart-warming note. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s, or sending a thoughtful word to treasured friends, everyone will adore the extra effort that’s gone into this reusable packaging.
Essentials
- Fabric: floral print, white
- Press fasteners, 8mm
Download and print the template from sewmag.co.uk. Trace the envelope template onto interfacing. Mark the inside corners, then iron onto the outer fabric. Cut and pin in place on top of the lining. Sew around the edge with a 5mm seam allowance, stopping and turning at the marked inner corners. Leave a 2cm gap on one straight edge.
Trim any excess fabric. Snip the marked inner corners and cut small triangles from the curved edges. Turn the whole envelope out, then press flat. Fold and press the two side flaps in, then the large curved bottom one, overlapping slightly.
Hand sew the gap, then the flaps, together with a tiny ladder stitch to neaten. Be careful not to sew through to the back of the envelope. Use pins to keep them in place. Mark where you want the closing to be.
Use the press fastening tool to add a mini popper to the top and bottom flap. Cut a small red heart from felt and hand sew to the outside of the envelope to cover the press fastening.
