Put those knitting needles away! While first looks may deceive, this roll neck design by Posner and Posner is in fact made entirely from stretch knit fabric. A crash course in stitching bulky fabrics, inserting sleeves and overlocking, we recommend choosing a muted shade that pairs beautifully with your favourite coat.
Download the pattern from sewmag.co.uk, then print out and follow the cutting guide. With right sides together, pin the front to the back at the shoulder seam and stitch. Neaten the seam edge using an overlocker or by trimming the seam allowance and using a zig zag stitch. Press the seam towards the back.
With right sides together, pin the sleeves in position and sew. Neaten the edge of the seam allowance and press the seam towards the sleeve. Pin the underarm and side seams from the sleeve edge to the hem, right sides together, making sure that the sleeve seams are level and matching the notches. Stitch the seam from the sleeve edge to the hem. Neaten the seam allowance edge and press the seam towards the back.
With right sides together, pin the edges of the cuff and sew. Trim the seam allowance and press open. Fold the cuff in half, right side outwards. Position the raw edge of the folded cuff around the sleeve edge, ensuring the underarm and cuff seams are level. Stitch the cuff in place and neaten the seam allowance. Press the seam towards the sleeve.
