About this pattern

A cowl scarf is bang on trend this season and this patchwork version by Cheryl Owen is long enough to wrap twice around your neck to keep out the chill as we move from winter into spring. It’s ideal for using up prints in your stash and takes no time at all to stitch. Choose a pom pom trim in a matching colour to really set it off.

Essentials

  • Seven printed cottons, 23.5cm x 50cm each
  • Pom pom trim, 1.5m

    sew an infinity scarf

1 Cut 23.5cm x 50cm rectangles from seven cotton prints and stitch the long edges together, right sides facing, using a 1cm seam allowance to form a row. Press the seams open.

2 Pin the tape of pom pom trim along one long edge of the scarf, starting and finishing 1.5cm in from the ends and placing the tops of the pom poms facing in from the raw edge. Machine tack in place using a zip or piping foot.

3 Fold the scarf in half widthways with right sides facing. Pin and stitch the short edges together with a 1cm seam allowance to form a circle. Fold the loop in half lengthways with right sides facing. Pin and stitch using a zip or piping foot, leaving a gap for turning. Turn the scarf out. Press under the edges of the opening and slipstitch closed.
