Make a Button Jar
Cut a strip of fabric 8cm wide and long enough to wrap around the jar with a 4cm overlap. Back the fabric with fusible webbing and cut the long edges into a scalloped design using a Big Shot. You may need to cut part of the fabric and then move it along the die to cut the remaining section.
Use fusible webbing to bond scraps of felt onto the back of some cotton fabric scraps. Use a variety of button shaped dies to cut out lots of fabric motifs. Use two strands of a contrasting colour embroidery to sew blanket stitch or running stitch around the edge of each shape.
Embroider wording onto the centre of the strip of fabric if desired and then sew each fabric ‘button’ onto it as you would a normal button. Fold under one raw edge of the fabric strip and wrap around the jar, pinning it into a band. Slide the band off the jar, over sew the join and slip back into position.
Cut a circle of fabric larger than the jar lid. Fix double sided tape around the side of the lid and stick the circle in place. Add more narrow tape around the edge and use this to fix a length of narrow ribbon tied into a bow.
