About this pattern

Create a classic reindeer scene this Christmas with Susie Johns' embroidery tutorial.

Satin stitch is a great way to create neat blocks of colour, which crops up frequently in embroidery patterns. Now it's time to develop your skills further with padded satin stitch which, as the name suggests, is a more sumptuous version. First, you pad out the shape you want to fill with small stitches, such as running stitch, sewing in one direction. The satin stitch is then worked across and over the padding stitches, to create a raised 3D effect.
