About this pattern

Bring the summer indoors with this beautiful hoop art from designer Carolyn Letten.

It’s a great make for mastering both appliqué and machine embroidery. Not to mention the clear cerulean blue skies, bunting flapping in the breeze and screeching seagulls will have you daydreaming of a trip to the beach – we can almost smell the fish and chips from here!

Essentials

  • Fabric: plain blue cotton; white cotton print; pale grey cotton print; crosshatch print, mid grey, dark grey; royal blue tulle net; coloured scraps
  • Wooden embroidery hoop, 25cm
  • White felt
  • Acid-free glue

    Top sewing tip

Using felt adds a little more dimension to the project, which will make the seagulls stand out. You could also paint the hoop bright yellow before you start.
