About this pattern

Part of our Dressimal series, Corinne Bradd's dapper deer toy is the perfect sewing pattern for beginner sewists.

Introducing your new best friend, Declan – and the second release in our Dressimal collection. This little stag loves to play dress-up and is well-known among his friends for his bold sartorial choices. It's why we've provided easy steps for you to recreate his stylish dungarees outfit, with a front pocket big enough to store a £2 coin, and a triangle scarf. Gather printed cotton, embroidery thread and an assortment of stuffing to create this bestie-to-be. Don't forget to print out one of our toy labels before gifting!

Essentials

  • Cotton fabric, plain and patterned
  • Embroidery thread
  • Fibre filling
  • Lightweight quilt wadding
  • We used Art Gallery Fabrics Little Town range by Amy Sinibaldi for Declan's outfit. For Declan's body, we used two shades from the Pure Solids range by AGF Studio.

    Top sewing tip

If you’re new to making soft toys, quilt weight cotton is the perfect material to start with. It has very little stretch, a tight weave that will give a smoother finish, it’s washable and comes in a huge range of colours and beautiful prints to choose from.
